Maintenance
Maintenance Support for the month of January provided by Mai
David S. Shutt, Capt Steven W. Dowling, MSgt Glenn W. Zeitlow, CySgt
George H. Mason, GySgt Robert L. Means, and SSgt Robert M. Kaitchuck,
along with every member of the Squadron Maintenance Department was
outstanding. 2,989.8 total man-hours were devoted during January
and 1,644.0 man-hours hours during combat operations. The Squadron's
twelve aircraft, Supporting Document Item 14, were all Full Mission
Capable throughout the month of January, and the co f@idence of the
pilots in the ai-craft's ability to fly and fight was unsurpassed.
WO Bobby G. Clements, MSgt Authur J. Benoit and their Ordnance
personnel worked extremely hard to provide the correct aircraft
loadouts and were extremely flexible with last-minute changes in
chaff and flares, fuzes, bombs, and missile requirements. Total
ordnance expended during January is as follows:
MK-20 - 17 HARM - 29
MK-82 - 125 Shrike - I
MK-83 - 179 20mm - 813 rnds
MK-84 - 31
CWO4 Leonard A. Goetz, SSgt Richard C. Plunk, SSgt Tim D.
Fowler, Sgt Don M. Augenstein and the members of the Avionics
department ensured aircraft radars, ALO-126B countermeasures set,
ALE-39 chaff and flare dispensers worked flawlessly.
Personnel and Administration
CWO2 Calvin C. Colbert, SSgt Guy S. Short and the rest of the
'Trip Trey' Administration department joined 15 Marines during the
nce the
departure of VMFA-333 to SouthWest Asia in August igge.
Unit Diary entries, to include the *Shamrocks' receiving
retroactive Hostile Fire Pay for the month of August, remained
accurate and timely, resulting in no pay discrepancies.
'Minimize Consideredw message traffic slowed down normal admin-
istrative functions, but through innovative means,,all essential
tasks were completed.
Three Marines, Sgt Tracy Wasson, Cpl David B. Huff and Cpl Chad
R. Barnes were awarded Good Conduct Medals and one (1) Marine was
awarded a Letter of Appreciation.
Marines of VMFA-333 were informed of squadron policy and events
taking place aboard Shaikh lea AB by the Plan of the Day (POD),
Supporting Document Item 15.
On I January Brooke Shields toured the Squadron spaces passing
out autographed pictures and posing with Squadron members for photo-
graphs.
