                               Command, Operations and Training

                 Reference (c) states the Mission of VMFA-333 as: *To intercept
            and destroy enemy aircraft under all-weather conditions, to attack
            and destroy surface targets, escort friendly aircraft and conduct
            such other air operations as may be directed'.
m I January - 16 January was to support
            Operation Desert Shield by flying Barrier Combat Air Patrol (BARCAP)
            over the Persian Gulf and Simulated Close Air Support (SIMCAS) for I
            Marine Expeditionary Force (I MEF).
                 The mission of "Trip Trey* reverted to a combat role on 17 Jan-
            uary when Operation Desert Storm began. VMFA-333 flew Deep Air
