Fe r.Lia-y Operation Desert Storm 3/12 fired for the first time
during the war in supppf TF Gr4.zzly who had
reconnaissance forces across the border. 5/11 occupied a
firing position just southwest of the border in preparation
to support the screening and clearing of the artillery
position areas short of the first Iraqi obstacle belt.
Further south, 3/11 occupied assembly area positions with TF
Ripper, the Division's main effort for the assault breach.
In anticipation of Division operations in a chemical and
biological environment, the Division Com,.nander directed that
all personnel begin taking the Nerve Agent Pretreatment
(NAP) pills and the Ciprotlox,.n (Cipro) antibiotic pills.
Specific noteworthy events included:

22 February Operation Desert Storm G-2. Early in the morning as 1/11
and the Regimental jump CP moved forward to pos4tions along
the border, 1/12 engaged what was believed to be an Iraqi
armored reconnaissance force of 2 tanks and 3 BMPs -oving
