a little bit harder bc if you dont have the luxury for sitting down
in a chair and moving after you sweated and got durt or mud down
inside boot before you put it on it will make it harder to come
off. I dont know if thats a good solution to that problem. Mayber
another method for tying them down or strapping them. The rubber
is not durable enough f or what they had to do as an inf antry. Alot
of punctures, not enough grip, sand it wasn't that bad but if get
in a wet slick area, like in Lejeune, tendency to fall when theyre
running. Short distance or whatever they have a tendency to lose
            theyre footing.
            * Hoods we have were I nt that good. Like them beter then any other
countries but if come out with a lighter weight suit and goes along
with say a new M40 Mask put on there. Hood has tendency to dry
rot. Alot of manufacurer chemicals. Infantry when they use it
they are alot harder on their gear, not bc they want to be but bc
that is the nature of their job.
            * Carriers have presented a problem for us the straps have been
ripping out, wear and tear out here with the sun beating down on
them. Weakening the straps the whole caseing. Have had alot of
them go bad on us. Brought 100 extra with me and out of that 100
I probalby have 30 left. And I saved those just for combat. I
oculd have given out alot more -- at least another 200 or 300.
            * Medicants that we had. Pleased received them. Displeased on
the way they were issued out. It was a NBC nightmare to start
having control over a control substance. The (canna), Marine felt
comfortable after they recieved the (intrapeen), (toopan), the
 problem on the medicants they
come in separate and if it wasnt for the way MC's MOPP
type ... become kind of separate and kind of confused everybody at
f irst bc you preach it about the MOPP1 Kit and when you receive
these two separate adn they get confused because the toopan looks
so much like the canna that at night it could easily be mistaken
for teh canna adn inadvertently injected. I dont know if I should
be the one me, myself or any other NBC guy be responsible for a
controlled substance. Teh way it came through the channels was it
started off as medicla issued. And i picked it up from the medical
officer and just issued it out to the line companies. Then it came
down through the supply system. Personnaly I think it should be
kept through BAS. Too mcuh going on for me to be the key point to
worry about that. I want to make sure we have all the gear and
resupply of NBC gear so should go through BAS or company corps men
and work along in conjunction with the doctors.
            * Another item that has happened to me numerous times even through
training is the inserts (glass). Even a couple times in training
I would put the mask on and they would pop out and puncture me in
the eye and I think it is a bigger hazard then it is beneficial.
I have heard alot of other Marines complain about the same thing
and its not bc the insulation is two pronged Ive done that to mine
and it still pops out. They could come back to the old system
where they had the granney-looking glasses with the wire where its
put in there, that would help out and I also feel that your vision
that the wind itself should be alot .... it should have.... I was
thinking about like here in SWA there should be a tent a lighter
r the lens protectors or to your glasses. Maybe even a
