  SUBJ:  II CHEMICAL FORCE DISPOSITION (U)

  REF: OCJCS LEGISLATIVE TESTIMONY REVIEW

  1.  (U)  Purpose.  To provide the Secretary of Defense and the 
Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, with information on lraq's 
capability to launch  ballistic missiles with chemical and 
biological warheads.

  2.  (U)  Discussion

            Iraq has the capability to launch ballistic missiles 
with chemical and biological warheads.  The Iraqis are assessed to 
have limited quantities of unitary as well as binary chemical 
warheads for their Scud-B missiles and/or their modified Scuds, 
known as the Al I'lusayn and the Al Abbas.  According to reliable 
Information, the iraqis successfully tested a chemical warhead for 
a surface-to surface missile in the Spring of 1990.  The missiles 
would most likely deliver the nerve agents Sarin
