Subject: Illnesses in Iraq

In late September and early October 1991, more than 1,000 cases of 
viral hepatitis per week were being reported in nongovemment 
controlled areas in Iraq: In addition, over 600 suspected cases of 
t,vphoid and over 6,000 cases of diarrhea were reported in unspec-
ified areas of Iraq in September 1991, about half the number 
reported the previous month.
