and, of course, we are only interested in areas inside Kuwait.

LTG AHMAD (I): The ammunition are very clear to see The main dumps
we can also give you their positi~~.

GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): I think that would be helpful, Yes.

LTG AHMAD (I): I think you have seen that already. It is very clear.

GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): We probably have, but if you would give us the
information that would be helpful.

LTG AHMAD (I): In this matter any question you could ask we will
answer you very clearly.

GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): Of course, if there is to be a cease-fire there
can be no further scud launches at all.

LTG AHMAD (I): Indeed

GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): We would now like to talk about safety measures
since our troops are still close together. We had an unfortunate
incident yesterday where our troops got in one more battle that we did
not need.

LTG AHMAD (I): In this we would like to talk about.

GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): Yes. I would tell you that on the orders of my
government we are not going to withdrawal any troops until the cease-
fire is signed.

tTG AHMAD (I): The ones you shot yesterday were drawing back.

GEN SCHWA~ZKOPF (US): Well unfortunately, they shot first But that
is something we could argue about until the sun sets.

bTG AHMAD (I): Well this is what happened has happened, but you can
check it.

GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): We could argue this until the sun sets and we
would never agree. And therefore, what is important now is for us to
draw a line between our troops and make sure it doesn't hapren again.

LTG ArnIAD (I): This will not change about what we have said about our
people drawing back. This will not change anything, of course, it is
just a matter of speech

GEN SCHWARZKOPF (US): If we can, I have a map with a line that shows
generally where our forces are located now. If we could both agree
that our forces could stay 1 km away from that line on either side
then there would be no shooting

LTG AfiMAD (I): We could agree on the map or zone that nobody will be
there from both sides and if you are going back 1 km and we could go a
distance away we would agree on that.
