(Handling Contaminated Casualties) to Operation Desert Storm NBC
SOP

1.   The 56th Air Transportable Hospital (ATH) is the primary care
facility for chemically contaminated, wounded personnel.    The
56th ATH is located at the Riyadh Air Base (airfield).     If the
airfield becomes contaminated or is under attack, an alternate
location for care of contaminated cas~alties will be determined
by the Survival Recovery Center (SRC) Doctor in Charge, who will
be co-located with the Base Commander.   (Currently the alternate
location will be either the hospital fac~~lity at the King Khalid
Air Base, or a secondary hospital facility, to be established,   at
Eskan Village).

2.   POC at the 56th ATH is CAPT Mason, 4?6-6566 ext 5320.   POC at
the 56th Disaster Preparedness Office is CAPT McAuley, 476-6566
ext 5362.

3.   Sections are responsible for tran:3porting contaminated
casualties to the pick up point.   The pick up points are the
respective bus stops for the MODA BuiLding, the Staff Annex,   and
the Ulaya Compound.

4.   CCHC will assist transporting contarninated casualties from
the pick up points to the processing/transfer point for the
hospital facility.   SRC has designated t?%e main gate at the
Riyadh Air Base as the processing/transfer point for chan~eover
of contaminated casualties for the prf~:nary hpspital site.  If an
alternate hospital facility is used, tae SRC will designate a
processing/transfer point for that facility.

5.   If medical personnel are availabl~', they will perform TRIAGE
of contaminated casualties at the pick up points prior to
casualties being transported to the hospital facility.
