                                      R             UNCLASSIFIED

                   (1) (U) -Medical maintenance and modification will be
         performed by personnel organic to medical units in accordance with
         authorized levels of maintenance.

                   (2) -04- For Army forces, the MEDSOMs will function as the
         central point of maintenance support beyond organic capabilities of
         medical units, and as the central point for the collection,
         classification, and disposition of medical materials

                   (3) (U) Salvage of medical material will be in accordance
         with Defense Disposal Manual (DOD 4160.21) and applicable service
         directives.

               e. (U) Optical Fabrication and Repair. The MEDSOM will function
         as the central point of support for optical fabrication and repair for
         all service components beyond organic capabilities.
