TASK ORGANIZATION: See Annex A.
I. SITUATION.
a. Enemy. Overall terrorist threat remains low. However as
USAREUR units become actively involved in Desert Shield the
likelihood a-F targeting and surveillance increases by terrorist
groups sympathetic to Iraq. Operational security becomes
critical to counter terrorist and hostile Iraqi intelligence
agents.
b. Friendly.
(1) assists in the coordination with
USTRANSCOM, L,"'-z--@-,'ITCOM, and host nations.
(2) USTRANSCOM provides sea and air transportation
assets to move designated USAREUR units from seaports of
embarkation (SPn-E) and air ports of embarkation (APOE) to
designated ports cf debarkation in Southwest Asia (SWA).
(3) USCENTCOM designates ports of debarkation and
perform reception mission in SWA.
(4) US.'"F provides space or facilities on its
bases used as APOEs for the establishment of reception areas for
deploying units.
(5) USAREUR task organizes and deploys VII CORPS
composed of 2 divisions an ACR, and selected units as well as @@d
AD(F) to support Operation Desert Shield.
(6) V CORPS deploys one armored division and
establishes Departure Airfield Control Groups at all APOEs in
support of Operation Desert Shield.
(7) VII CORPS deploys one armored division, an ACR, and
selected units to support U.S. forces in Southwest Asia.
(8) '@d AD(FWD) deploys to Southwest Asia to support
U.S. forces in Operation Desert Shield.
