                                         WARNING / REPORTING
                                         o Upgrade MOPP and avoidance measures as CW threat increases.
                                         a Ensure CHEWOPNS personnel maintain chem downwind msg.
                                         o If attacked, send immediate warning to SUBORD/ADJACENT units.
                                         o Send NBC-1 RPT to next higher. Assess sauationiprovide follow up.

                                         DECON
                                         •   M258AI is your personal demon kit, know how to use
                                         •   Always mask before attempting any decon.
                                         •   Remember # 1 packet for 1 min., # 2 pack for 2 to 3 min.
                                         •   Decon ears. face, neck and inside of mask, it contaminated,
                                         •   For mask hood decon, use packet #2, then #1.
                                         •   Set prioritios. Decon only mission essential equipment.

                                         1ST AID
                                         •   Pyddostigrnine Bromide (PB) pills enhance the action of the NAAK.
                                         •   When directed, 1 PB pi:l every 8 hours until to!d to stop.
                                         •   Nerve agent self aid: NAAK # 1: pull, press, ho!d-10 sec.; # 2; pull
                                             press oxime, hold 10-sec.. wait 10 min.; give 2d injection if
                                             symptoms have not decreased. Give third injection wfj 5 min. If no
                                             improvement, treat for shock.
                                         •   Budddy aid: If severe symptoms, give his 3 NAAKS with no time
                                             delay.
                                         •   Nerve Symptoms: Early-Runny Nose, Tearing Eyes, Headache.
                                             Difficulty Breathing, Cramps, Nausoa.
                                             SEVERE:      Confused Behavior, Pinpointed Pupils, Vomiting,
                                             Convulsions,
                                         •   1 st aid for blister agents is decon self and treat for blistors/burns.

                                         DETECTION
                                         •   M8 Al DETECTOR and M43 alarm provide primary local attack
                                             warnings.
                                         •   Maximize standoff distances. Plan for battery useago.
                                         •   When M43 Alarm goes off, mask and give vocal, visual signal and
                                             metal-on-rnetal alarm.
                                         •   Use M256A[ to determine when to unmask. Distribute across unit.
                                         •   When reading M9 paper at night, use shielded white I;ght.

                                         LEADER CONSIDERATIONS
                                         •   Practice contamination avoidance. Cover exposed supplies/equip.
                                         o   Plan for water resupply. Use prefilled canteens.
                                         •   Reduce MOPPIIVOVE TO CLEAN AREA ASAP as mission permits.
                                         •   Review SOP/wargame actions in advance wfth ldrs.
                                         •   Train on CW defense daily. Be confident. Time spent planning/ tng.
