and combat service support with an aviation brigade containing
eight organic battalions. This integration makes the division a

"flexible and lethal offensive fighting organization having use
at the strategic, operational and tactical le@els of war."B8

The division, with the enhanced anti-armor capability of

its Apache and Cobra helicopters and HMHWV mounted TOW missiles,

is eminently suitable for mid to high-intensity warfare as well

as low-intensity conflict. Its tactical agility offers the Corps

or Joint Task Force commander extra flexibility at the

operational level. once committed to an operational area, the

division commander has the capability to rapidly build up or

      shift combat power.B9

The 101st has three infantry brigade headquarters and

headquarters companies which provide the command and control for

Air Assault Brigade Task Forces. These task forces are combined

arms teams built through task organization of the division's

combat, combat support and combat service support assets. The

task forces habitually train together during times of peace.

An Air Assault Brigade Task Force is usually supported by:

            - a field artillery battalion

            - an air defense artillery battery

            - an engineer company

            - an additional engineer platoon provided by Corps

            - a military intelligence company team

            - a chemical platoon

            - a forward area signal center platoon (FASC)
