         Attack (AATK) Battalion from Fort Rucker, Alabama, and the-@

         xovement of OH58D Kiowas from the 1-9th Cavalry from Fort Lewis,

         Washington. These forces were attached to the division

         throughout the conflict.

               Simultaneous with the DRB-1 airflow, the rest of the

         division was moving vehicles and aircraft to the port at

         Jacksonville, Florida, for shipment to Saudi Arabia. The

         division received its-call to,port order from the Military

         Traffic Management Command (MTMC) at 1930 on 13 August 90. MTMC

         directed the division to move its vehicles, equipment and

         aircraft to the port at Jacksonville, Florida. The vehicles w6re

         to report to the port's Blount Island Terminal. Enroute to

         Jacksonville, self-deploying helicopters were to land at Camp

         Blanding, Florida, for shipping preparations.

               Operations at Jacksonville went smoothly as the division

         organized, prepared and loaded 5,258 pieces of equipment. During

         the convoys to Florida, the 101st had a glimpse of the tremendous

         public support the military would enjoy throughout operations

         Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Throngs of flag waving people

         lined interstate overpasses all along the route to the port at
         Jacksonville. 14

               Once at Jacksonville, the equipment was loaded on ten ships

         of various sizes. The American Eagle, the first ship carrying

         101st equipment to depart Jacksonville (19 August) for Ad Damman,

         Saudi Arabia, had also carried the division's equipment to
