            As the month       of August 1990 began CNN broadcasted                    the   sketchy-details-of Iraq's
        invasion of the tiny oil-rich nation of Kuwa-it. TI@'e 613th                         Tra'ns'poriaiio"n Comp'any
        had just been relieved of a month long desert support mission with.the 2/75th
        Rangers at Fort Bliss, TX. Mid-August brought on the realization that the                                  United
        States was preparing for a massive deployment to Sout wes-._s,ia@- The,513th.,was'
        tasked to provide a Range-r           Suppi)rt 'tleme-n'i@ '(RSE). 'E-o di@p'f;'Y'   -with Thirtieth Rangers
        to an undetermined-destination in the                 Gulf area. ..The.hand          full  of@soldiers.-were
        required to become war-rea@y.in' 'days. :There. deployment status. cr@@ajted,--ziew-
        priorities for our supply and training shops.                      The intelligence-reports-cl@arly---
        defined the standards that had to be met concerning chemical and biological warfare

        the RSE trained in MOPP gear and other prescribed tasks directed by the Rangers.

             By tbe-last week of August the entire 513th Traiis.'Co. w@i@ notified                             that it'*as
        on the deployment list and we needed to become ."war-readyll.-immediately..                            .,The supply
        system kicked in and our requests to fill-our wartime                      '  con    't'ingency and.other re.quired
        desert.  equipment reached approximately $240,.000,... By--tbp-bp-,gixining. of..September, we,
        began our 14-day deployment sequence. The size of our M915                            tractors and M872
        trailers created special problems for MTMC. In the long run, it-required three
        ships to transport our large equipment, a C-141 for the smaller cargo and a
        commercial 747 to deploy the 141 soldiers that initi'ally"gtepged off in Satfdi"-"

        of Saudi Arabia.         We also concentrated on combat convoy. SOPS, rear battle defense
        operations and security operations in detail. We also organized and met with the
        soldiers dependents to create the company "chain-of concern.

             The 513th was locked on the              TPFDL in mid September;-our-deploy                           e,c.an

        about five times throughout September                  and October. Just             as the soldiers seemed to
        be acquiring the "somebody's crying wolf" philosophy$ we-were-notified on--23 Oct-90
        that we were Eo'-d-e-pl-o-y f-rom'M'cChord AFB to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia beginning 1300 25
        Oct 90.      We had our final moments-with-our families and-friends,.-long-distance-phone
