                      28 FEBRUARY 1991, G+4, TRE LAST DAY!? - Ile previous night Kuwiat City was
               liberated by allied forces, and a cease fire was in the offing. This moniing's good news was that

               at 0800 hours at cease fire would go into effecl The time would later be changed to 0720 hours.
               Units within the division rushed forward to secure the division's front line. Iraqi troops were
               attempting to give up while division forces bypassed the@ going out of their way to avoid
               captlmng any more enemy soldiers. Umts would later round up the bypassed enemy,


                      Both 1-1 ABB and 4-1 Avn closed with assembly area GOLD going into a maintenance

               and personnel catch up phase. The brigade came out of MOPP 11 down to MOPP 0. After
               ba@g, soldier's sldns were several shades lighter having removed an accumulation of charcoal

               dust and sand. It was a day of rejoicing.


                      The Ist of March once again brought a serious tone to events. 1-4 Cav had orders to -

               secure Safwan Airfield. This was the selected site for Sig '=g the cease fm agreement As 1-4

               Cav moved forward, it encountered an Iraqi armored brigade in prepared positions north of the

               airfield. With persuasion, both peaceful and coercivc6 1-4 Cav bloodlessly dislodged the Iraqi

               troops.


                      The brigade set to coordinating its part in the show of force for the @, to be held at

               Safwan the next day. The brigade Tactical Actions Center set up at the @eld to better control

               events. 'Me peace talks were then delayed twenty-four hours to 3 March 199 1. The 2nd of March

               was used to finalize site preparations. Air Traffic Control was moved to center field for its role in

               contro@g inbound aircrafl.


ns were underway. At 1000
               hours the Apaches arrived. @ were set up on each side of the runway to face the inbound Iraqi
               negotiators. Further north on the runway were MI tmU and M2 Bradleys. Aircraft of all types
               began flying in - U.S. UH-60 Blac@wks, Kuwaiti Super Pqrn;ks, British Chinooks, etc. The
