SUBJECT: Use of Dog Flea/Tick Collars by Soldiers
1. REFERENCE. Unclassified Message, AFPMB, 11060OZ DEC 90,
subject: Uns@fe and Illegal Use of Dog Flea/Tick Collars by
U. S. Troops
2. Dog Flea/Tick Collars are not to be used as a personal
protection measure against insects.
7>. Dog Collar insecticides have an effect on the human nervous
system. Because the insecticides acts like nerve agents, they
may limit the soldiers ability to survive a chemical war are
attack. In addition, they may cause a body rash.
4. The improved DEET and other personal protective measures
should be used to protect soldiers from arthropods. The Dog
Collars will not be utilized for arthropod protection.
