           ANNEX E (MEDICAL) TO FORSCOM DEMOBILIZATION ELAN (EDE) EOR
           OPERATION DESERT SHIELD


                   (2) Injured/ill soldiers who are hospitalized will
           remain in the MTF in a patient status and draw pay and
           allowances. They are not on active duty once their orders
           expire.

                   (3) Injured/ill soldiers who are not hospitalized but
           still require treatment when their active duty tour is scheduled
           to terminate will be dropped from the records of the medical
           holding unit. Such persons may remain in the MTF in a patient
           status and draw pay and allowances. They are not on active duty
           once their orders expire.
                   (4) Reserve Component (RC) soldiers receiving medical
           care in a government or civilian health care facility at
           government expense are in a patient status following termination
           of their active duty orders.

                   (5) Patient status means that the RC soldier is
           authorized medical care at government expense for Line of Duty
           (LOD) injury, illness or disease. Patient status is NOT active
           duty. Specific entitlements while in a patient status must be
           determined and clear guidelines issued to all DMS.
