Center Commander.
(w) 12 February 1991 - Spot decontamination exercises were
conducted at the 114th and 350th Evacuation Hospitals.
(x) 15 February 1991 - Briefed ARCENT Surgeon's representative
on time/distance evacuation factors in reference to Log Base
Charlie. The end result was to obtain support from the 2nd
Aviation BDE for an on-call CH-47 to back-haul patients from
LDC.
(y) 18 February 1991 - Group conducted a series of mass
casualty drills amongst its EAC Hospitals. Each hospitals mass
casualty plan was tested with a rapid influx Of 45 patients
within 20 - 30 minutes.
Exercise Objectives:
- Triage of multiple casualties
- Evaluate rapid response teams
- Exercise emergency room response to mass
casualty situation
- Exercise litter teams
- Exercise ground evacuation system
- Test medical regulating communication system
These exercises highlighted the need for additional
litter teams. As a result, Veterinary and Preventive
Medicine Teams were trained as on-call litter bearers. The
exercises also highlighted the need for augmenting
internal communication in the hospitals. To solve the
problem, the G-6 at ARCENT provided small portable PRC-127
radios. Public address systems were also installed at both
field Evacuation Hospitals.
(z) 19 February 1991 - XVIII Corps requested positioning of
medevac aircraft at LBC ASAP. 803d Medical Group responded by
positioning two aircraft.
(as) 19 January 1991 - The Group's Theater Army Medical
Information System (TAMMIS) became operational.
(bb) 20 February 1991 - Decontamination MASCAL exercise
conducted at the Group's common decontamination site utilizing
45 patients.
(cc) 21 February 1991 - At 1720C and 2120C hrs, Scud missiles
were fired at KKMC. Both were successfully intercepted by
Patriot missiles.
(dd) 23 February 1991 - G-Day commenced at 0400C hrs. The
ground war began.
(ee) 24 February 1991 - Four Scud missiles launched at Hafar al
Batin/KKMC. All were intercepted by Patriot missiles.
(ff) 26 February 1991 - Temporary cease fire at OBOOC hrs.
(gg) During the month of February, 803d Medical Group personnel
taught modified Combat Lifesaver Courses to a total of 683
replacement personnel at KKMC.
(hh) 1 March 1991 - Provided three aircraft (UH-1) from the 343d
Medical Detachment and three Ground Ambulance from the 477th
Medical Company to,support Task Force Freedom in Kuwait City.
Support was later increased two additional ambulances and a
Command and Control Cell from the 108th Medical Battalion.
