        MEMORANDUM FOR ARCENT Surgeon

        SUBJECT: NBC Related Medical issues

        1. Chemical Agent On 10 Dec 90 we were informed
by CENTCOM NBC that 500 CAMs should arrive in theater O/A 20 Deo
90; the new equipment training team should arrive approximately
one week later. ARCENT will have to prioritize distribution of
CAV,s within theater. Recommend priority of issue be medical
units, chemical units, and remaining quantity equally split to
both CORPS and SUPCOM. Please let us know your total CAM
requirement for medical units in each Corps and ARCENT SUPCOM as
soon as possible, CAM BOT is:

2 ea per Bn Aid Station
                  Z ea per Med Co
4 ea pe- Med Clearing Co
I ea per Prev Med Unit

        2. Nerve Aclert._@%7rid(? ine Pretreatment (NAPP). There is
oonflicting guidance on unrefrigerated NAPP shelflife, REF A says
shelflife for unrefrigerated NAPP is I year. REF B states 6
months. Please let us know what ARCENT guidance should be,

        3 Convulsant Antidote Nerve Agent'r.@ ANAI,_..We.@re concerned
that there will not be enough CANA to issue to each soldier in
theater. Are these concerns valid? How much CANA will be coming
into theater for ARCENT within the next few weeks? if you
anticipate a shortage, can you check on getting additional amounts
        from the manufacturer?

        4. Have Mark I Nerve Agent Antidote Kit expirations dates been
extended? If so which lots are effected'? What are the new
        expiration dates?
