           SUBJECT: 24th Infantry Division (He@hanized) NBC Defense
           Training Plan.

           1. Purpose. To summarize the key points of the 24th
           Infantry Division's NBC defense training plan.

           2. Discussion. The 24th Infantry Division NBC defense
           Lraining plan was published on 10 October 1990. The plan
           addresses NBC training at all echelons and establishes
           specific training responsibilities for our commanders and
           SLaff. A summary of the plan is as follows.

               a. Conduct training at least twice a week beginning with
           reinforcing individual NBC soldier skills, and unit NBC team
           and control party operations. A specific list of tasks is
           provided in the plan which focuses on only chemical and
           biological defense operations.

               h. Cause each soldier to wear his or her protective mask
           daily in response to local alarm for an NBC attack.

               C. Train in HOFF once a week and gradually acclimatize
           soldiers to MOPP-4 wear. A HOPP wear schedule is provided in
           the plan.

               d. Emplace M8AL alarms and perform daily function check.

               e. Conduct supported and unsupported decon exercises
           periodically. Have key leaders view these operations to
           understand capabilities and concept of operation.

               f. Train leaders in divisional reconnaissance and smoke
           capabilities/employment using our FOX and M1059 systems.

               g. Include NBC as a condition when conducting crew
           drills and collective training. Focus on accomplishing unit
           specific mission essential tasks.

               h. Conduct periodic leader development training and
           control party exercises for brigade and battalion NBC
arty exercises will focus on training
           and evaluating our ability to operate the NBC warning and
           reporting system.
