         SUBJECT: Turn in of Class VIII Chemical Defense Materiel (CDM)

         1. Reference a. MEMORANDUM, 428th MEDSOM, dated 3 MARCH 1991,
         Subject-. Letter- of Instruction for the Turn in of Medical
         Materiel.


             b. MEMORANDUM, 428th MEDSOM, dated 16 MARCH 1991, Subject:
         Update to 428th MEDSOM LOIs on Turn in and Destruction of Medical
         Materiel.

             C. VII Corps Memorandum dated 30 March 1991, Subject: Turn
         in of
         Class VIII Materiel for Redeploying Units, VII Corps.

         2. 42eth MEDSOM is closing 20 April 1991. CDM may be turned in
         until 3C) April 1991. As of I May, all turn ins will be made to
         the
         47th MEDSOM in Damman. CDM requiring turn in are:

         3. Units must document all temperature and storage conditions to
         which this materiel was eyposed-

             a. Identify materiel carried with the soldier, how long, and
         at
         what temperature range.

             b. Identify materiel stored in direct sun, how long and at
         what
         temperature range.

         4. Units must coordinate CDM turn ins with the 426th MEDSOM,
         Customer Assistance, 7710-554. Only condition code "A" items
         with complete unit of issue will be turned in. Items not meeting
         the appropriate criteria for turn in will be destroyed at the
         428th MEDSOM by the individual units.

         5. Units with materiel to be destroyed Must present a

         and witnesses.
