         SUBJECT: Disposition of NBC Equipment -for deployment


         1. This correspondence is to address issues and concerns on how to
         deploy different types of NBC equipment +or OPERATION DESERT SHIELD.

             A.   Decontaminatinq_ggl6!tign_02_(DS2)-and-S-u-29E_Trapical_BleAr-h-
         (STL3).

                  1. Only serviceable containers will be deployed.

                  2. During upload, ensure that STB and DS2 are loaded on
         separate vehicles.

                  3. Consolidate shipments of like items, do not issue DS2 or
         STB to individuals or vehicles.

             B. MBAI Chemical Agent Alarms and Chemical Agent monitors (CAM).

             1. I+ at all possible, repack in the original shipping
         containers.

                  2...I-F not available, improvise (example: A 20mm Ammo Box),
         or other suitable container and overpack.

         2. Unit movement control 6-F-Ficer/NCO should notify the Load-master
         of any of the above types of hazardous cargo to aid in -Fire--Fighting
         should the need arise.

         3. The following guidance is given -For the deployment of Nerve Agent
         Antidote Kits (NAAK's), Pyridostygmine Bromide (PB) Tablets, M25BAl
         Skin Decontamination Kits and MS Chemical Detection Paper.

             A. M17 Series Protective Mask

                  1.  M25BAI and MS Chemical Detection Paper will be carried in
         the outside  rear pocket of the mask carrier.

                  2.  The waterproof bag will be removed from the inside
         storage pocket and retained by the unit.

                  3. When issued (Command directed), carry the NAAKs (3 ea)
         and PB Tablets inside the storage pocket of the carrier (see
         illustration on Enclosure 1).
