          4. Corps Artillery is experiencing shortages in two areas that
          are potential war stoppers:

              a. HHB Corps Artillery and 3-8 FA still require 500 NBC
hoods and 300 M258 kits. Per Corps Commander's guidance, we
require these items to make all our soldiers fully deplayable.

              b. Commo shortag@ cited in the 30 Aug 90 narrative cotald
cause serious operational problems if not resolved. Exhaustive
efforts by our logistics staff have +ailed to achieve results.

          5. Commander's Narrative: HO, XVIII Airborne Corps Artillery.
and 1B FA Bde have received no relief from their communication
shortfalls. Our force ai7"ilY-ery headquarters and field .1
artillery brigade are taking great risk in deploying with such
shortages in FM, AM, and secure equipment. Without intervention
from XVIII Airborne Corps, a potential disaster looms ahead.
Our ability to provide responsive and coordinated fires is in
          danger of being compromised.
