     SUBJECT: Proper Wear of the M17 Protective Mask Carrier

     1. In accordance with TM 3-4240-279-10, the mask carrier can be worn with the large strap
     either over the shoulder or around the waist. Personnel WILL NOT route the small strap
     around the opening flap and fasten it to the small D-ring. If the carrier will not stay
     closed, a new carrier will be issued. Masking procedures do not allow time for unfastening
     the strap from around the carrier.
