ODS MEDICAL LESSONS LEARNED
C3I and TRAINING CATEGORIES
TRAINING ISSUE NO. 15 IMA Training Inadequate in Command and Control,
Etiquette, and Operations
(SGHR ITEM NO. 186)
DISCUSSION: Several instances where IMAs were not qualified. Many of Reserve
medical incentive program (i.e., stipend program) members SG mobilized had
little idea of how the military works. There were troubles with uniforms,
chain of command, and military etiquette. Several IMAs were not qualified in
recorded AFSCs or not properly credentialed. Same problem experienced with IRR
and retirees. Efforts must be made to ensure IMAs are properly trained and
medically qualified. PIM personnel must be tracked to ensure qualifications.
RECOMMENDATIONS: MTF units of attachment must maintain signed documentation of
currency and credentials in assigned AFSC for IMAs. IMAs must perform duties
in their assigned AFSC at the units of attachment. HQ ARPC/SGR should monitor
PIM personnel to ensure proper qualifications.
ACTIONS REQUIRED: None. Noted item.
ACTIONS COMPLETED: N/A.
STATUS: Closed.
