SUBJECT: Reserve Augmentation 
 
BACKGROUND: SAC policy requiring call-up by specific AFSC rather than by complete units worked well. We did 
not "waste" valuable call-up authority on AFSCs not absolutely needed. All SAC medics were fully utilized once 
activated. 
 
ACTION RECOMMENDED: Individual call-up required labor intensive efforts to tailor UTCs. UTCs should be more 
in line with the UTC of our deployed forces; this would make the call-up easier. Individual call-up also runs against the 
mind-set of Unit Call-Up that has been preached especially in the Air National Guard. Call-up by tailored UTC or by 
individual philosophy needs to take the place of unit call-up/unit integrity at Guard and Reserve Units.
