PREFACE TO SECOND EDITION
This Primer was developed out of a need to address
medical conditions related to Operation I)esert Shield. It
specifically addresses communicable diseases and biological
agents that medical personnel need to become familiar with and
develop clinical expertise. Chemical, heat, and other topics
have been covered extensively in other communications
This information is not meant to be all inclusive
but to help the health care provider have access to information
that is not readily available. This second edition makes some
changes in the treatment of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis and expands
the second section. If needed there will be further updates.
