                (2) Ensure that their medical facilities are prepared to
        intiate the vaccination program.

                (3) Coordinate any other actions r@ired to ensure
        receipt of contingent vaccine(s) and administration to service
        members.


        6. Procedures.

            a. Requirements for Vaccines

                (1) Requirements for endemic,!disease and biological
        warfare (BW) vaccine are based on the Medical Mission Area Threat
        document; the Defense Intelligence Agency approved BW threat list;
        updated information from the Threat Office at the Academy of Health
        Sciences, U.S. Army; and the Armed Forces Medical Intelligence
        Agency.

                (2) Initially, the amount of contingency vaccines to be
        maintained shall be based upon the force strength for all theaters
        of operations. For the Army this will be approximately 250K to
        500K soldiers. The total Army force requirements for vaccines will
        be better defined by an in-depth study performed by the U.S. Amy
        concepts Analysis Agency.

            b. Target Population - Special Operations Forces, early
        deployers from FORSCOM, and other Army personnel will receive the
        vaccinations) in that priority. Special operations Forces and
        early deployers should receive a set regimen of vaccinations)
        during peacetime to maximize their readiness status.

            c. Procurement of Vaccines

                (1) Vaccines will be procured with funds from Management
        Decision Package (MDEP) HSCB.

                (2) The U.S. Army Medical Materiel Agency will disburse
        the funds for procurement of the vaccines.

                (3) The SGVPRC WG will provide USAMMA a list of vaccines
        and quantity to be procured by 1 October of each year.

                (4) The U.S. Army Medical Materiel Development Agency
        (USAMMDA) will solicit bids and develop and issue the contract for
ent of the vaccines in coordination with OTSG
        (DASG-HCD/DASG-HCL) and USAM14A.
