              IvCen Myatt sent the co-Trmnder of the King AbDul Azlz Brigade a
          personal note thanking him for his units role In the recovery of
          tvsarlnes trapped In Khafjl. Colonel Turki-Al-Flrml, seated on a
          oriental rug, In his deiert tent surrounded by his officers very
          carefully r66d the le-tter. He called for silence and told his
          off lcers what he had read. Then he said, that which for me, made
          six months of hardwork worthwhile.
               "Colonel Admire's Wrlnes are our'brothers. We are all
                soldiers In a just cause.    Vie had an obligation to fight
                to rescue those Marines In Khafjl because I know that If the
                positions were reversed there Is no question that they would
                have done the same."


                                POETRY IN PRAISE CF MARIT@ES

              Poems were produced and readings were held for the officers of
          King AbDul Azlz Brigade praising the units courage In the Battle
          of Khafjl.   Hard for me to follow In Aiable, urrnistakable though,
          were the mention of AT)erlcan t,4arlnes.  To sit In a desert tent on
          a oriental rug around a smoky hearth and hear U. S. tvarlnes
          praised in Arabic poetry filled n-e with pride.
