                                 UNCLASSIFIED


            approximately 40,000 pair of desert boots currently on order. DSO
            will pick up and distribute boots as they become available. Small
            quantities of jungle boots are still available and can be
            requisitioned directly from TAP for quantities less than 50 pair
            per unit. Quantities greater then 50 pair require I MEF approval.
            Speed lace combat boots are available for emergency issues only and
            will be issued only if neither desert nor jungle boots are
            available. All requirements for speed lace
            combat boots require I MEF approval. Units that have excess or
            ill-sized desert boots on hand can return them to DSO. All
            returned desert boots must be unused and in the same container/box
            as issued. Quantities returned will be deducted from the using
            unit's issued total and added to the balance due quantity if
            applicable.

               q. INVENTORY: An inventory of all government property must be
            conducted by all 2d Marine Division unit supply accounts. Unit
            supply officers should ensure special attention is made to identify
            all Class VII material. Provide a copy of inventory to include
            serial numbers to DSO by close of business 10 April 1991.
