All fire missions had to were
fired by the reinforcing battalion, 1/12.

The counter-attack lasted approximately 3 hours with kills
by Ist Tanks estimated to be (50) tanks, (25) APCS, and several
armored vehicles of other types. Ist Tanks collected an
additional (300) EPWS. Other enemy vehicles seen to brew-up at
a distance were hit by fixed-wing aircraft and attack heli-
copters. The Task Force sustained no vehicle or personnel
casualties in the battle. The enemy forces attacking from the
east and northeast were identified through EPW interrogations
as the 501st Brigade of the Sth Infantry Division and the 22nd
Brigade of the 5th Mechanized Infantry Division.

Concurrently, 1/1 was involved in its own engagement. At
0730, 1/1 received orders from the Task Force to clear the Al
Burqan oilfield north through Gathering Center 4 (Vic QS
885980). At approximately 0915, lst Plt, B Co, Baker Team,
Heavy Machine Guns, and ist Sect, 4th Plt, TOW Co, Ist Tanks
engaged mechanized infantry (Vic QS 8579). The remainder of B
Co joined the engagement at 0930 and halted the enemy attack
destroying (3) APCs and taking (29) EPWS. 1/1 continued to
attack north with B Co on the left, A Co in the center, and D
Co on the right. Both A and B companies engaged several
company-sized units of the 15th Mechanized Infantry Brigade,
3rd Armor Division during the course of their movement north.
D Co attacked the 2nd Battalion of this Brigade, taking over
         (400) EPWs including the Battalion Commander.

During the attack into the burning Al Burqan Oilfield, 1/1
coordinated with B Co, lst LAI on the Battalion's left flank
over 1/1 Bn TAC. This was critical since the visibility in the
oilfield was reduced to 50 meters at some points due to the
thick smoke. By 1600, 1/1 was positioned along the 03 grid
line, B Co on the left (Vic QT 8603) and A Co on hill 114 (Vic
QT 8803). D Co finished sweeping its zone, handling hundreds
of EPWS. By 1900, D Co occupied hill 127 (Vic QT 8903).
During the day's fighting, 1/1 accounted for at least (43)
vehicles destroyed and over (500) EPWS. Of note is the fact
that, due to the heavy smoke, most of the vehicle kills came
from TOWs using its thermal sights. The smoke precluded the
use of CAS aircraft. 1/1 sustained (3) WIA when an RPG
impacted in front of a STA vehicle. 1/1's attack apparently
hit the southern flank of an enemy counterattack coming from
            the east.

During the afternoon of the 25th, Ist Tank Bn located and
engaged, with Cobras and fixed-wing air and artillery, a dug-in
armored unit (Vic QS 867863). While clearing one of these
missions, TF Taro came on the net to inform TF Papa Bear these
fires were close to another armor unit which was apparently
trying to surrender. The Task Force shifted fires to the north
