                   Marines occurred.
On the morning of the 213th of February, in support of a planned sweep
of the area adjacent to Al Jahra, the medical plan was modified. In order
to provide a high level of medical capabilities in an extremely mobile
environment, the BAS set up its own "train" separate from the log train to
avoid either having to move the entire log train to the contact area or
receiving injured Marines to be transported more than a very short
distance in a high level of emergency care. This operation was cancelled
                   when the cease fire occurred.
              G. I Mar - 31 Mar 1991
Following the cease fire, attention was again placed on proper field
sanitation and safety. This was particularly important in the Kuwait City
area where the tactical situation necessitated campsite locations. When
the situation became clearly unhealthy for a long-term location, requests
were made, and granted to move to a location with a greater level of
environmental health. However, the entire area was contaminated with
large amounts of oily smoke from burning oil wells, associated with
                   respiratory and gastrointestinal symptoms.
An accidental gunshot wound and detonation of a 7.62Rm round injured 2
Marines, both requiring evacuation and hospitalization.
As prospects for retrograde increased, the medical section developed
plans for smooth processing for discharge from active duty.
