0: You didn't necessarijl agree with your colleague's as~es$ment that there
`tere ten other divisions in ad tion to the J~epublican Guard that were willing and
able to fight. Was he over-estiiaating or undcr~sti:nating the strength of those
divisions?
      A: ~`n ~ot going to get into countin~ divisions. I'll just say tha~'C the ~ra~j
forces still are a significant fighting force. We feel that we can take ton any of
his capabilities and we ~ow that we'xe going to be victoriou~ wb~n and if we have to -
go to a ground can~aign, tut I'~ not going to get into whether it's 10 or 11 or 9.

Q: If it was about ten divisions in addition to ~epublican Onards, you're
still looking at a~ut a quarter of a inillion troops out there.
      A: That's right. Good point.

0: This is iiore a housekeeping question. ~ost of the reporters are not able
to get in pools. ~ore and :nore are going up north on their own. Part of the
aggressive border action is the military police are arresting and detaining thern.
Can you get General Schwarzkop£ to lighten up on that and give us a little inore
access up there?
A: I':n sure he's going to know what the nature of the question is, an~ I'll
turn it over to Captain Wol~e;nooth an~ I'zn sure he can solve the problem.

Q: Would you give your assessment of the available facilities, infrastructure
in Saudi Arabia as far as this war ca~~paign against the ariny, how (inaudible) like
the infrastructure of airport facilities, like runways, (inaudible), and also how far
they are ineeting y9ur high standards for the ca~aign?
A: This is the Saudi forces'.

      0: Yes, Saudi forces.
A: The Saudi £orces are doing an outBtanding job. ~bey, like all the rest of
the coalition i'e~ers, are actively engaged in all aspects of the camp~ign plan.
~heir pedonnance to date has been exceptional, just like I thin)c ~ could attach that
term across the board to all of our coalition ~mbers. They're aggressive. ~t's the
first time they've been in co~at, I think, in the modern era I think they did a
terrific job at ~afji. There were lessons learned at Khaf~i as there are lessons
learned every day on the battlefield. If there are requirarnents as a result of those
lessons learned for changes in doctrine, tactics, techniques, or utilization of
equipment, then those changes have been made. I've been impressed with them. As you - -
know1 I've spent, off and on during the course of ry last tour in CLNTCOM, three
years over here, SO I've seen them ~row and inature. They're doing an exceptional
jOb, just ~ike the rest of our coalition forces.

0: Can you say about medical facilities?
A: At the front line or the rear or what?

      0: Near the front lines.
A: They, like all the coalition nembers, have got a good medical System set up
to ~ke sure they can take care of any of their wounded troops. In fact, I think
that's a plus for the entire coalition effort. When our troops get wounded or
injured through an accident or whatever, we've got a remarkable syate~ tb inake sure
tbat we take core of them. That's something I don't think we can even put on the
same, they're not even on the same page when we're talking about the Iraqi forces.

Q: In case there is a ground offensive and it goes on for a day~or*two or
~hatever, and then Saddain ~ussein says that's it, I've had enough, I want to leave,

                          -~ - **~~i~~1~~~ ~~:
