                    1. PURPOSE. To prescribe the policies for veterinary servic-
                    to be provided to Corps.

                    2. SCOPE. Applicable to all units assigned or attached to
                    corps.

                    3   RESPONSIBILITY.

                        a. Sta'@f Proponency. Surgeon.

                        b. Commanders of veterinary service units are responsible
                    for providing veterinary service to corps.

                    4.  GENERAL.

                        a. Mission of veterinary service units is to contribute to
                    conserving the health of the command'by assuring food
                    wholesomeness, food hygiene, safety and related quality assur
                    inspections; inspecting, monitoring and testing subsistence a
                    food-producing animals contaminated by or suspected of being
                    contaminated by NBC agents; providing services relating to the
                    control of zoonotic diseases; assisting in the preventive
                    medicine program; and maintaining the health of military ani-
                    Veterinary service personnel will fulfill this mission as
                    outlined in the references at paragraph 6.

                        b. At the direction of the Corps Surgeon, veterinarians
                    be utilized in a medical care and treatment role during the
                    initial period of hostilities to augment the staffs of US Army
                    Medical Treatment facilities.

                        C. USAREUR CSURG (CINCUSAREUR, ATTN: AEAMD) will be kept
                    informed of location of depots of subsistence supplies and
                    locations of government-owned animals and make assignments of
                    veterinary units accordingly.

                        d. 'Veterinary detachments will report their initial
                    locations and specific units supported, by grid coordinates,
                    through Corps channels to USAREUR CSURG (CINCUSAREUR, ATTN:
                    AEAMD). Subsequent reports will be submitted as locations or
                    operational status changes.
                        e. Monthly reports required of veterinary detachments is
                    For,.n 2651 (Veterinary Activities) (RCS MED-25 (R6)). AR 40-(
                    establishes policies and procedures for the preparation of DA
                    Form 2651. The completed report will be classified "SECRET"
                    forwarded through command channels to Cdr, 7th MEDCOM, ATTN:
                    AEMVS, APO NY 09102 to arrive not later than 15 days after I
                    report period ends.
