1. PURPOSE. To prescribe policies and procedures for patient
evacuation in support of Corps.
2. SCOPE. Applicable to all units assigned or attached to
that have a patient evacuation mission.
3. RESPONSIBILITY.
a. Staff Proponency. Surgeon.
b. All commanders possessing patient evacuation assets are
responsible for implementing these policies.
4. GENERAL.
a. Patients will be evacuated by the means of transport
which most nearly meets the treatment demands of their wound,
injury or illness. Patients will be moved no further to the
than necessary to obtain the definitive medical care to return
them to duty or delineate requirements for further evacuation.
b. Movement of patients by ground is the primary means of
evacuation. when the use of air evacuation is practical, due
combat situations, weather, patients' condition, etc., air
ambulances will be used on a mission basis. in the absense of
air or ground ambulance, any type of transport may be used for
casualty evacuation.
c. Corps level evacuation units will generally forward
station evacuation vehicles at supported divisional medical
'ts.

d. Army Medical Department (AMEDD) aircraft and ground
ambulances will be used only for the movement of: patients,
Medical Department personnel, and medical supplies.
e. Deceased personnel will not be evacuated during wartime
