SUBJTCT: Meritorious Unit Commendation
(5) Developed and executed the establishment of a
standardized Patient Decontamination Site (PDS) throughout the unit.
(6) Planned, coordinated, and executed each phase of the
offensive operation, ensuring the XVIII Airborne Corps support
elements, the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), and the 24th:
Infantry Division were provided timely and effective medical care
during combat operations deep in Iraq.
(7) As part of task force structuring during Operation
Desert Storm, the unit provided medical support to various units.
Task For,ce 3 consisted of a two MASH element in which the unit
provided the triage station and minimal care patient holding
capability in support of the 24th Infantry Division's combat
operations deep in Iraq. Task Force 6 comprised the 274th Forward
Surgical Team (Airborne) and elements of the 595th, which provided
the tr.iage station and minimal care patient holding capability in
Support of the lead brigade of the 24th Infantry Division. The 595th
performed medical regulating for Task Force 6 and coordinated all
aeromedical evacuation operations. This task force was the most
forward deployed corps-level medical unit in the theater, providing
m-ach needed surgical capability far forward.
(8) As a result of strong command'emphasis on
maintenance, the unit maintained an equipment operational readiness
rae of 96% or higher and a PLL zero balance rate of less than 2% in
the areas of vehicular and medical equipment.
(9) The unit expertly executed all phases of redeployment
in the areas of air and sea debarkation.
b. No incidents of absence without leave occurred during the
period.
C. No convictions by cout,t-martial occurred during the period.
d. Two punishments under Article 15, Uniform Code of Military
Justice occurred during the period.
