                                                                                     INSTRUCTOR


                      1.  Use one of your additional CANA autoinjectors and administer
                 the second CANA injection.

                      2.  Protect the casualty from injury.

                          a. Turn him onto his side to facilitate breathing.

                          b.  Pad the area around him to help prevent injury.-

                          c. Restrain the casualty, if necessary.

                      3.  Short-tem, effects of CANA on non-nerve agent intoxicated
                 soldiers include-

                          a.  impaired vision -. and decision-making functions,

                          b.  drowsiness.

                ..B....Administer.third CANA injection.

                      If, af@er the second CAIIA injection, the casualty continues to
                      convul@e, wait about 10 additional minutes, and then administer
                      the third injection.

                                                    WARNING

                                    The Combat Lifesaver and Combat Medic
                                    must not give more than 2 additional
                                    injections.

                 C. Evacuate the    casualty.

                 D.   Tamper check.

                      1. Check the   orange dot on the black end of your CANA au4@oinjec'.or.

                      2. If you see a needle hole or a broken-off needle, replace your
                 CANA.

                      3. Check for any damage to the autoinjector, and replace it if
                 damaged.

                 CLOSING: If convulsions and brain injury are to be prevented, the
                 diazepam   injection (CANA) must be given prior to    the onset of
                 convulsions as buddy-aid. If a casualty requires all three sets of
                 Mark I autoinjections, then you should immediately also administer the
                 CANA autoinjection.
