2 NOV
0800 hours--Four more unit soldiers moved north to Jubail, Camp
5, leaving -Fourteen at Dammam to greet Cape Hudson to arrive later
with other vehicles.
Continued finance services, check cashing and CPs at Warehouse 1.
Learned later from 24th Trans that ship would not arrive until
0800 on 3 Nov.
No MFST missions today.
1930 hours--Cdr attended 18th CFG command call with other FSU
commanders in Theater. Cdr, 18th CFG stressed importance of readi-
ness and soldiers not becoming lax,-particularly in view of potential
-For terrorists activity. Cdr briefed on LES and payday operations
and relocation of unit north to Camp 5, Jubail.
Despite paying in less than ideal conditions, MFSTs experienced only
$1.50 loss while paying total of $97,000. Serviced soldiers of 3d
ACR from FT Bliss and COSCOM units from FT Hood and FT Bragg.
Got a call earlier from Group that our TAT had shown up at Cement
City in front of some Chemical Bn (from Ft Hood) tent. Dispatched a
2 1/2 ton truck from 230th FSU to pick it up.
3 NOV
Continued check cashing and finance service at Warehouse 1.
OBOO--Cdr and input team to ARCENT HQ to access COAHOST for
messages/coordination with rear detachment on family support and
other issues and to access JTELS to confirm TLs sent for inquiries
and CPs paid. Then to port to visit 24th Trans to verify arrival of
Cape Hudson--due in at 2000 hours.
NOTE: Trips are made daily to ARCENT and 18th CFG compound by various
members of unit to access COAHOST and JTELS--unable to gain access
every day. No phone lines to CONUS, nor commo to Group at Camp 5.
1500--Cdr visited 15th FSU Cdr at his location at the IST CAV
DREAR REAR (Corral) to discuss the unloading of vehicles and equip-
ment the next day. Told them we would secure vehicles tonite and
drive them to our location at the Warehouse.
1800--Went to dock to greet ship; learned it would be delayed
three hours and that vehicles would start rolling off as early as an
hour after docked. Returned at 1145 hours and Cape Hudson had
arrived. Cdr went on board to determine placement of unit vehicles
-- vehicles would not come off until early next morning.
4 NOV
0630--Det Sgt and three soldiers went to dock; final vehicle
rolled off about 1330. SFC Hewett supervised unloading and transfer
of equipment to 15th FSU. Upon completion, SFC Hewett and nine other
unit soldiers convoyed north to Camp 5, Jubail; arrived at 2030
hours.
1430--Cdr and Dep Cdr attended 18th CFG Cdr social at the
compound in Khobar. Enjoyed a great meal, conversation and sports
competition with other FSU command teams.
5 NOV
0630--MSG Simpson and SBT Wolf to ARCENT HQ/18th FAO to make
turn-ins (vouchers and checks) and draw additional funds prior to
moving to Camp 5.
0900--Cdr and Dep Cdr made move to new home at Camp 5.
1630--502D's relocation to Jubail completed when MSG Simpson and
SGT Wolf arrived. Set up office operations in a 20 X 10 room in back
of camp dining facility.
