            ANNEX D - LOGISTICS

            LOG PLANS

Base camp. Rations were initially drawn out of Theater

Support Supplies KKMC. This required three convoys per week.

Rations were picked up and stored in refrigerated vans. Some

bottled water and MREs were stockpiled in the battalion S-4 yard to

ensure the UBL was readily available for the ground attack.

Non-potable water was consumed at a rate of 200 gallons per day

when showers were operating at a full capacity. Each unit used 'its

water distributors to pick up water twice weekly from the class I

Class V was tightly controlled and issued only upon direction of

            the Battalion Commander.

The issue of other supplies was done from the S-4 office/tent

and S-4 yard. Vehicles were required to stop prior to entering the

S-4 yard, drivers dismounted and waited for clearance from the 9-4

NCOIC prior to entering the S-4 yard to pick up supplies. The

ration cycle was A-M-T. The T-ration was the ideal meal, as it

allowed a hot meal to be served to the soldier every day during the

            deployment.

Offensive phase. The battalion received support from the 3rd

Armored Division's LOG task force (LTFL) during the ground attack.

Supplies which were not available from the 3AD were forwarded from

the base camp at Log Base Echo. Supplies were sent to the forward
