                          Ist Cavalry Division Chronology




                     DEFENSE OF THE WADI (13 JAN - 7 FEB) lst
           Cavalry moves to and defends Wadi Al Batin from a possible
           pre-emptive attack, provides security for VII Corps
           deployment, and conducts light/heavy operations.

                 3 Jan VII Corps issued,FRAGO 34-91. With minimal
           notice. lst CAV conducted night movement from I'AA Wendy
           in the rain and was set for defensive operations along the
           Tapline Road within 24 hours. 2nd Bde/101st AA was -RACON
           to protect Al Qaysumah Airfield. The division conducted
           defense in sector with heavy and light forces for two
           weeks.


                 17 Jan lst Cav FRAGO 91-6 issued for defense forward
           of Tapline Road. lst Cav prepared for defense.

                 18 Jan Ist SCUDS launched at Isreal, 100% division
           alert in MOPP 1.


                 20-21 Jan During daylight hours, Syrians move across
           our front from west to east. lst Cav pulled south of 55
           E-W grid line to allow for a coordinated passage.

                 25 Jan VII Corps issues FRAGO 93-@)l. 2/101st AA
           departs. Tapline Road is no longer "no penetration" line.

                 2 Feb -rPS-25 radar destroyed HAR@L missile.

                 5 Feb Enemy OP fires on AH-i Cobra. Cobra returns
           fire with rockets; two direct hits on troops in open.



                     DECEPTION/FEIN'r (7 Feb - 25 Feb). Ist Cavalry
           conducts deception effort for VII Corps to protect their
           movement and to portray Wadi axis as the main attack.

                 7 Feb Destroyed troops in observation tower,
           building, and truck. Secured 16 EPWs for a total of 48.
