        1.  GENERAL INFORMATION

            A.   Official nomenclature is Decontaminating Kit; Skin: 291 and the
                 common name is M291 Skin Decon Kit. The NSN is 4230-01-276-1905,
                 which identifies a box containing 20 kits.
            S.   The purpose of this equipment is to allow you to completely
                 decontami'nate your skin through physical removal and absorbtion of
                 toxic liquid chemical agent, with no long-term effects.

            C.   Use the M291 Skin Decon Kit for both actual combat and for
                 training purposes.

            D.   No maintenance forms or records are required for use with the kit.

            E.   Use Form SF 368 to report:

                 1. Equipment improvement recommendations.

                 2. Corrosion data feedback, which includes unusual cracking,
                     softening, swelling, or breaking.

            F.   Recommend each soldier be issued two M291 SDK (12 packets).
            G.   Recommend the two M291 SDK be worn in the front right pocket of
                 the BDO trousers, or one SDK in each front pocket of the BDO
                 trousers.

            H.   Two M291 SDK have the capability to do one personal w2pedown and
                 one individual equipment decon.

        NOTE:    Two M291 SDK packets are needed if both hands are contaminated.
                 Therefore, skin decontamination   may require the use of three
               .packets.

            1. Equipment Description

                 1.  Contents.- Each kit consists of a wallet-like carrying pouch
                     containing six individual decon packets. Each packet contains
                     an applicator filled with decon powder.
                 2.  Accountability: The M291 is expendable. Discard carrying
                     pouch after all packets are used.
