                                                                                    INSTRUCTOR


                       1. Use one of your additional CANA autoinjectors and administer
                   the second CANA injection.

                       2.  Protect the casualty from injury.
                           a. Turn him onto his side to facilitate breathing.

                           b. Pad the area around,him to help prevent injury.
                           c. Restrain the casualty, if necessary.

                       3. Short-tem effects of CANA on non-nerve agent intoxicated
                   soldiers include-

                           a. impaired vision and decision-making functions,

                           b. drowsiness.

                   B. Administer third CANA injection.

                       If, after the second CA14A injection, the casualty continues to
                       convulse, wait about 10 additional minutes, and then administer
                       the third injection.

                                                    WARNRNG

                                    The Combat Lifesaver and Combat Medic
                                    must not give more than 2 additional
                                    injections.

                   C. Evacuate the casualty.

                   D. Tamper check.

                       1. Check the orange dot on the black end of your CANA autoinjector.

                       2.  If you see a needle hole or a broken-off needle, replace your
                   CANA.

                       3. Check for any damage to the autoinjector, and replace It if
                   damaged.

                   CLOSING: If convulsions and brain injury are to be prevented, the
                   diazepam injection (CARA) must be given prior to the onset of
                   convulsions as buddy-aid. If a casualty requires all three sets of
                   Mark I autoinjections, then you should immediately also administer the
                 CANA autoinjection.
