                16 February
                       The Brigade CESO reported that a Mode #4 codebook was compromised and edition HS
                may be destroyed. #2 edition HT Table 19 became effective 1900 17 FEB 9 1.

                17 February
                       An A Company LTH-IH was tasked for a route recon mission near the 00 grid line for I ID
                movement forward. OH-58D's continued to conduct NVG missions in search of the enemy, and
                EH-60's conduct SEMA missions for 101 MI Bn. WOI Holt, a UH-60 pilot, was injured
                attempting to open a chaff case. He was evacuated by the 507th to Logbase Echo for medical
                treatment. WOI Holt was accompanied by CPT "Doc" Marsh, the battal ion's flight surgeon, and
                WOI Watson. More chemical suits were ordered.

                18 February
                       A malfunctioning M8 alarm caused an early morning NBC alert in the battalion. Word
                spread throughout the battalion in less than two minutes. The battalion was in MOPP 4 for about
                forty minutes until an M256 verified all clear.

                20 February
                       During a windstorm five tents in the battalion were blown over; however, no personnel
                were injured.

                February 22
                       Tle advance party left for FAA Vagrant, located in the neutral zone at NT6210, seventy
                KM north-northwest of Hafar al Batin.

                February 23
                       ,The main body left for FAA Vagrant. President Bush offered an ultimatum to Saddam
                Hussein, telling him to get out of Kuwait. 4-1 Avn Bn began taldng PB pills to build up immunity
                to nerve agents.

                approximately 0400 hours. The battalion launched eighteen missions on G-Day, incorporating all
                of the varied missions in Army Aviation. The battalion's UH- l's flew general support missions,
                supporting the Commanding General, the Assistant Deputy Commander for Maneuver, and the
                Assistant Deputy Commander for Support. The UH-60 Blackhawks flew support missions for
                Division Support Command (DISCOM). OH58-C's flew recon missions in support of Ist Bde,
                2nd Bde, 3rd Bde, and DIVARTY. EH-60's flew CEWI missions for 10 1 MI, and the battalion's
                OH58-D's flew screening missions with 1/4 Cav during the ground movement forward to PL
                Colorado. OH58-D's also flew missions with 1-1 Avn's Apaches.



                25 February 1991
                       The battalion again operated out of FAA Vagrant with a total of twenty missions being
                launched. UH-60 (163) flew LTC Wildes (4th Bde XO) on a recon of the new 4th Bde TOC north
                of PL New Jersey. Another Blackhawk (877) was tasked with a LRSD extraction mission, but the
                mission was cancelled because the team had been picked up earlier that day. OH58-C's supported
