                14 December
                        'ne division quartering party left for Saudi Arabia. 4-1 Avn Bn personnel included MAJ
                Jones, SSG Clark, and CW2 Tripodi.

                22-31 December
                        4-1 Avn Bn issued block leaves for Christmas.

                28 December
                        2AD(FWD) aircraft, including four OH-58C's and two UH- I's were flown from the
                2AD(FWD) airfield to Bremen to Bremerhaven. The excess equipment was packed in storage,
                2AD's section of the airfield was shutdown, and packing lists were issued.

                29 December
                        2AD's equipment and aircraft are loaded on the merchant marine ship the "American
                Falcon.

                30 December
                        The "American Falcon" left Bremerhaven for the port of Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

                31 December
                        Bn Cdr LTC Wilkerson inspected the companies at King Field House. This was the first
                time the troops were in the Desert Camouflage Uniform.

                5 January 1991
                        Advanced elements of 2AD deployed from the Federal Republic of Germany to Saudi
                Arabia.

                8 January
                        The advance party from Ft. Riley, led by LTC Wilkerson, left for Saudi Arabia. Enroute
                stops included Gander, Newfoundland and Saragosa, Spain.
                        All units from 2AD arrived in country and were located at the ISA near the port of Jubail.

                10 January
                        Main party left Forbes Field, KS enroute to Daharan, Saudi Arabia. Enroute stops
                included New York and Rome. The departure center was building 817 at Marshall Army Airfield,
                Ft. Riley. Family and friends were allowed to visit until the departure. The American Red Cross
       and VFW passed out gift boxes which included sunglasses, stationary, frisbees, and personal
                hygiene items; they also had volunteers with snacks, coffee, and soup as the soldiers waited for
                depart=. Domino's pizza donated free pizza for everyone. The battalion departed onIWA 747's
                painted all white, with a small American flag painted on the tail. The aircrews referred to the planes
                as Casper and Wendy.

                I 1 January
                        Main party arrived in Dahrain, Saudi Arabia at 2358 hours. LTC Wilkerson met the
                battalion as the soldiers deplaned.

                12 January
                        Main party boarded buses at 0300 for transport to AD Dammam port to await the arrival of
                equipment. 4-1 Avn Bn remained in tent city until 17 January.
