Cdr's Comments: The Brigade recently completed its Mortar Safety Certification
Course. The course, attended by 33 personnel, presented instruction on the
duties and responsibilities of mortar range OIC'S, NCOIC'S, and Safety
Officers. Classroom instruction dealt primarily with Fire Direction Center
safety, hands-on instruction included prefire safety checks and misfire
handling procedures. 19 personnel of the rank of SSG or above passed the
course with an exam score of 85 or higher.

Cdr's Comments: TF 3/505 continued preparations for AAD. Events included
OPFOR play and engineer support. Two scheduled slingload operations were
canceled due to OR rate of UH-60. However OPFOR air, as portrayed by one UH-
IH, flew for an hour and a continuous CAV screen is established with two OH-
58D's.

6ACdr's Comments: Effort at AL HASA with the Saudi's went well. Approximately
40 Saudi personnel observed a static display of equipment, had dinner with us,
and saw both day and night platoon assaults. Will follow up with further
ons. Both commanders
were there and wanted to pursue that.
Work at Iraqi Strong Point continues to evolve. Timing of artillery is
critical. Lots of good basic soldier tasks being executed, to include
extensive casualty play.
Have held small award ceremonies over last two days for cooks at all
three camps, FAST, MP's and the Corps laundry unit. Support from all of these
units continues to be superb.
Follow-on meeting with ARAMCO security personnel confirmed there are 61
SUSP's in the region. Any number could be taken out and would not shut down
the system. The two critical facilities are at AB QAIG and SHADQAM. We are
re-working our plan and will brief the command group as soon as possible.
