            2- Puranse. This memorandum describes commander's
            responsibilities for Influenza Immunization Pronram- This
            prouram will be imnlemented an an area medical support concept
            IAW with the Desert Shield I OPLAN. Influenza is a hiahly
            contaoicus illness which usuallv strikes in this AOR from
            Dece@er throunh March- Prevention of enidemic influenza is
            vital to miaintainina personnel readiness durina Operation Desert
            Shield.


            3. Responsibilities.

                a_  @rps Surnean's Office.

                    (1) Have overall resnonsibilitv for the FY 1991
            Influenza Immunization Prouram for XVIIX Airborne Corps.

                    (2) Provide an estimate to the 32nd MEDSOM. Ist COSMM
            of active dutv wilitarv and reservists an active duty assioned
            or attached to XVIII Airbar@e @rus. This estimate is to be
            utilized as a olanning fioure in ordering Influenza Vaccine and
            immunization supplies.

                b. All commanders will-.

                    tl) Develop a prouram to immunize their soldiers for
            influenza.

                    (2) Be responsible for ensuring that the soldiers under
            their commands are properly immunized.
