             STJBJE6T: Material Condition Status Report, DA Form 2406

             1. Purpose. To reemphasize to commanders the importance of
             submitting daily DA Form 2406 reports.

             2. Reference.
                 a. Maintenance update 12. DA Pam 738-750, 31 October
             1989.
                 b. AR 700-138, Army Logirtics Readiness Sustainability.
                 C. VOCO Order, Commanding General, 24th Inf Div (M).

             3.  Facts.

                 a. The DA Form 2406 is used to collect and report the
             status of the phvsical condition of 24th Inf Divfs material.
             Specifically, t@e daily submission is used to:
                     1. Prepare the ni htly briefing to the Commanding
             General on the status of hys unitts equinment
                     2. Provide feeder data to the d'ally LOGSTAT an'd'  cimi
             rep6rt to XVIII Abn Corps.
                     3. Validate requisitions, identify maintenancp-'
             trends and those critical repair parts to be included as    part
             of the Desert Express nessa e.
                     '4.                                             s
                         Determine priory t  of fill for repair part    -not
             available in sufficient quantities to cover all of-the
             requirements.
                 b'. Units that do not submit daily Material condition
             Status Reports regardless of the tactical situation affect
             the accuracy and effectiveness of the systems listed above.
