3.   Keep garbage pits away from where you sleep as they draw animals, insects
and other critters.

4.   Don't eat where you sleep. Food remnants attract animals, insects and other
critters.

5.   Shake out sleeping gear before crawling in likewise boots.

6.   Sealable bags (Zip-Lock) are an important form of human waste disposal for
tankers during continuous operations. Israeli tankers have remained buttoned up
from 72-96 hours at a time.

7.   Depending upon the area supplies of antivenins and medical advice on
treating bites and stings is sometimes necessary.


a.   Personal hygiene:

    a.   If possible, sponge face, armpits. crotch and feet daily with soap and
water.

    b.   Clean eyelids at least twice a day.

    c.   Change socks twice a day.

    d.   Use foot powder twice a day.

    e.   Change or wash clothing when possible.

    f.   Air clothing daily by exposing to direct sunshine.

    g.   Have medics treat cuts, scrapes, blisters, and burns.

9.   Use of Cat Holes:

    a.   Dig at least one foot deep and one foot wide.

    b.   Use only once and only when moving.

    c.   Use only if other field latrines are unavailable.

    d.   Fill in hole and camouflage.
